Biblical Tabernacle Reproductionīiblical history comes alive at our full-sized Biblical Tabernacle reproduction, open all year. Its a small zoo with a big bang and a great choice for families. The Mennonite Information Center is located in the heart of the Amish and Mennonite communities of Lancaster County, home of the oldest existing Amish settlement in the world. I used my local (NC) zoo membership card and was granted free admission. Also member of the AZA so you may get discounted or free admission if you belong to one of the participating zoos. Tickets for zoo admission only are available of course. Used to be included with admission to Hersheyworld theme park but I visited "offseason" so I don't know if that still applies. Short walk from parking lot to zoo entrance. Children will enjoy the burrowing owls and prairie dogs without question. Without spoiling it, there were elk and black bears to represent larger species. Would be nice if there were a couple more larger animals like moose, bison or mountain goats but this may not be possible due to space limitations. Plenty of picnic and "rest" stops within the zoo. Animal habitats are well done for the most part and animals can easily be seen (at least on the day I went and in the morning before it became too hot). Wheelchair and stroller can handle the terrain without too much difficulty. There are a couple of indoor halls as well to offer heat relief and escape bad weather. There are paved paths with lots of shade among the exhibits. It's an "urban" zoo so it's tight which is good for families with small children. Emphasis on North American animals so don't expect exotic African or Asian species.
